Ross Clifford of Triumph wrote to the list a while ago explaining that you
should always use the ignition switch not the kill switch to stop the bike.
Using the ignition switch lets the computer take various readings of engine
status and store them to allow a smooth start when you turn the ignition on
again. Using the kill switch stops the computer dead and the bike may run
rough when it restarts.

So if you use the kill switch and have problems, turn the bike off with the
ignition switch, wait a few seconds and the turn it on again. It's a bit
like rebooting Windows really, but so far my bike has been a lot more
reliable than any PC!

However, I still use the kill switch sometimes, to avoid the Veto alarm
activating itself automatically, but I haven't had any rough running
problems so far (28,000 km).
