     the fairing neatly cut the switch right off.
     
     The same thing happened to mine. The rear of the switch was neatly 
     removed from the rocker when the fairing was forced out of position. 
     Check the front subframe for damage. This holds the mirrors, 
     instrument panel and headlights. If the switch got wasted the subframe 
     is probably out of alignment also.
     
     I think this time I'll fit the switch into the fairing and fit a 
     connector block into the wiring to allow for easy fairing removal.
