I would recommend my mechanic at North Bay Motorsports in Santa Rosa.  Jason 
has done really good work for me, as have other techs in the shop (their 
resident "expert" did my race tech job).  Jason rides Ducatis and wrenches 
for a local racer.  I think he treats my bike as if it were his own. He has 
done "extra" work without asking just because he saw the need.  It should 
not be so hard to find a mechanic with knowledge who takes pride in his 
work.
What work do you need to have done Robert?  I would think if I had my own 
automotive shop I would do my own work anyway, since lack of tools and 
knowledge are the main reason to go to a dealer.
