i'm not sure that it's in the manual.

but it's easy:  just hold the "select" button in for 5 seconds.  the
units for distance and temperature will cycle through their possibilities.
(i.e., i _think_ you can select any of miles/degF, miles/degC, km/degF,
km/degC, though probably not in that order.)  i don't recall if you
keep holding, or have to press anew each time you want to switch to
the next combination.

in these times they should be putting it on the web for free, and
letting those who want or need it download it.  it's just another way
of overcharging and inconveniencing customers.  $100 is way too much
money for something more necessary than the toolkit.
