i think any strengthening and/or limbering exercise is good.  if you've
ever had back problems, you should be doing stretches and exercises for
those in any case.  i stretch in the mornings each day of a ride, and i
try and resist the temptation to eat at the closest place to where i'm
staying -- the walking is good for you!
