If by "chopped" you mean ragged, ripped rubber for the outter 1/4" of the 
tire, yep.  Strange, hadn't seen that before.  

Front was a bit feathered, but that's not that unusual, is it?

p.s. These are the BT57's I'm talking about BTW, which have since been 
replaced very recently by a pair of D207s a friend sold me cheap.  They rock, 
but probably not for very long. :-)
