[ST] RS@12,000 miles

I've just had the 12,000 mile service done, so thought I'd report.

Not that there's much to say. We hear all the problems on this list, but
bikes with no problems are kinda boring, aren't they?

This was actually at 12,841 miles, due to me riding it a lot more than
expected after booking the service! About 7,000 miles since the last. I had
the latest tune uploaded (the shop called it 'version 12', so I don't know
if this is the same as the expected #10040 .. does anyone know?).

The bike was running very well before anyway. No dramatic difference - it's
now perhaps a little quieter, a little smoother, a little stronger low down,
but it was difficult to try it's full range in rush hour traffic. The front
end is better behaved. It's shifting better too. In addition to the usual
oil change (Castrol R4) and fluid checks, three shims were swapped out, and
the fork oil was replaced (Dexron SAE 10). I also asked specifically for the
CO to be kept at 3%. It was expensive (£360), most of the bill being labour
of course.

Unrelated to the service, my new pair of Pirelli Dragon GTS are now well
scrubbed-in, and feel great. They're stable and true even at very high
speeds (!) and I can just 'think' the bike through bends again. I even tried
them in the rain on Wednesday, and they felt more secure than the Avons. On
balance they feel very similar to the BT020s, so it'll probably come down to
how they wear, and the mileage/price balance.

Overall it feels absolutely gorgeous, and even after nearly a year I still
just want to ride it ALL the time!
