I also just had new rubber put on...Macadam 100x (a little more coin then
most others...but WELL worth it!)
I was speaking to a tyre guru at my dealership and we discussed why they
will sometimes square off.  Most people think it is mostly from long,
straight rides...but an equal factor is ....harsh starts at green
lights...quick braking...(situations where your tyres get scrubbed - city
traffic)

Apparently the Macadam 100x's are a big improvement over the 90x's.  Durable
but very sticky.  A perfect compromise.
