[ST] Ride while the riding is good!

Howdy,

So the weather gurus are predicting mid sixties to low
seventies and mostly clear for this weekend. Does that strike anyone
else as a golden opportunity? I am planning on riding out of Huntsville
towards Jasper (east) via some of my favorite back roads. It is about a
5-6 hour round trip ride from Huntsville depending on the pace and the
frequency of stops. I plan on leaving here at 10:00am. That puts us
back here around 3-4pm. In time for most folks to ride back to Houston
if they want. If you are coming from a little farther away and wish to
stay the night, gimme a call and we'll see what we can work out. I have
room for two on a fouton and lots of floor space. If you are allergic
to cats... well, we have a few ;-)
The trees around here are looking quite nice. Many of the
hardwoods have dropped most of their leaves, but the lowly Tallow/China
berry trees are looking fiery red and yellow. The route will take us
out of Huntsville on FM 980 towards highway 190 just west of the north
end of Lake Livingston. From there we'll take 190 to FM 3152 and head
north into the woods. Then FM 350 south for a few miles to FM 942. FM
942 is a lot of fun. Then it is FM 1745 to Chester for the first stop.
We'll continue on FM 1745 to Colmesneil and pick up FM 256 to Hwy 190.
>From there it is a short run up 190 to Jasper for lunch at PC's BBQ.
The return trip will be a simple back track. For those wanting
to head back to Houston without heading all the way back to Huntsville,
you can cut south on US 59 at Leggett which will take you thru
Livingston and then Cleveland. You can cut back west on 105 out of
Cleveland or many other back roads in that area.
If you are interested in coming, show up at my place by about
9:30-9:45am. I live just off of I-45. If you are coming north on 45,
take the Hwy 30 exit, exit 116. At the light, turn right on Eleventh
street (east). Go down the hill and at the first light hang a left on
Normal Park. There is a Golden Corral at this light. After turning
left, head north on Normal Park (heading down hill) and you will pass
an intersection at the bottom of the hill (maybe eigth mile from
light). Right after the intersection, the road starts uphill, we are
the second duplex on the left, 628 A. There will be two bikes parked
out front. The duplex is blue with white trim. We are in the front
half. Home phone 936-295-0187, day time (my work) 800-887-1258.
If you plan on coming, please let me know ahead so we can wait
for you. Hope to see you Saturday!

Adios,
