RS vs ST

Jeff,

My wife just bought an RS instead of an ST. I had an RS demo bike for about a week last summer when my current ride was in the shop, and absolutely fell in love with it. Later I rode an ST, though not as extensively, and was less impressed. It was still a wonderful machine, but the handling seemed much heavier than on the RS. Also, there seemed to be more heat buildup under the fairing than on the RS.

My wife went to the dealership intending to purchase an ST. She previously owned an ST1100 Honda, and wanted something with hard luggage. But upon seeing an Eclipse Blue 2000 RS on the showroom floor, she fell instantly in love. Since higher handling limits are less important to her than to me, her choice was based purely on superficial considerations: looks and style. But for selfish reasons, I'm glad she picked the RS, because I enjoy riding that model even more than the ST. I've ridden most motorcycles currently available, and I honestly believe the RS was the most underrated motorcycle of the 2000 model year.
