Is the output measured on the crancshaft or on the rear wheel?

I've noticed that all the RS tests listed the horsepower as about 5 ponies
down from the ST. I think the magazines may have received a batch of tweaked
pre-production STs for their initial tests. My guess is that production
bikes are roughly equal to the RSs.
