Re: racetech

John:

I had the full Racetech upgrade performed to my previous bike, a Honda
ST1100, with new springs, emulators, Teflon bushings, new seals, even
synthetic oil (about $45! just for the oil). In total I spent about $600+
and had the work professionally performed by a certified Racetech shop.

The results were disappointing. The bike actually handled worse in some
situations because the Racetech "improvements" eliminated the Honda stock
anti-dive built in the forks. To make a long story short, I would not
recommend doing everything until you first try improving with new springs
and, possibly, a different weight fork oil. If I had gone the "new springs
and oil" route first I would have saved a lot of time, money and
frustration.

P.S. My opinion with regards to the rear shock is just the opposite of the
message above. Buy the best rear shock you can afford (1. Ohlin, 2. Penske
or Progressive Suspension) and you will be amazed at the difference.
