Heated hand grips ??

Sprinter's,
  For Christmas Santa left me some heated hand grips.  I finally got them
installed and got to take the bike for a ride and it appears I too have the
cooler left grip.  I know there were only a few others with this problem,
but has anyone tried a fix?  I was thinking about either adding wire for the
right grip or possible shortening the wire for the left grip.  Any thoughts?
I certainly do not want to fry my hands or bike, but would like a bit more
even heat.
