     Paint on some gel paint stripper from your hardare store to remove  
     the black finish. Rub it down with 1500 wet&dry paper and finish with 
     autosol. Hey presto, one shiney lever for about 1 hours work.

     Only problem is, the thing is black! And my brake lever is silver.
