What's wrong with Solvol Autosol then?

As the Daytona is off the road for the winter, I thought I'd amuse myself by
giving it a really thorough clean and polish (sad git or what?!).  In the
past I've always sworn by Solvol Autosol for all the shiny metal bits such
as footrest hangers, exhausts etc.  But having read my Triumph handbook it
says that using Autosol is a big no no.

Why is that then?  What's anybody else using?  At this stage I'm inclined to
say "bollocks to you Triumph" and use Autosol anyway.
