Three of the screws that hold the filler cap are dummies. I made a bracket
that gets screwed into those holes and it has an arm that moves the camera
back a couple of inches further so it is sitting right against my stomach.

I have a Nikon with a motor drive, and I run an electronic cable release to
the handlebars. I stick it to the underside of the left control, just under
the horn switch so I can trigger it while riding. It still takes more
concentration to find the button than I'd like and sometimes I end up
honking the horn instead of taking a picture, but overall it works pretty
good.

Currently my bracket is made out of wood, but it would be great if one of
you machinists on the list could make one out of aluminum. I'd feel a whole
lot better having $1200 worth of camera gear mounted that way. If some one
is interested, let me know and I'll provide a diagram for a quote.
