Hello. Just want to take a moment and introduce myself, a new member to
this list and the ST community. Three weeks ago I picked up a new '01 ST,
red. It is currently back at the shop (Canton Cycles, Canton, CT) for it's
first service and installation of a Scott Oiler. I absolutely love the bike
thus far. My last bike was a '96 Trophy 12 BRG. The Trophy was a good
bike, absolutely bulletproof. The biggest drawback was the high COG making
it very top heavy.
By contrast, the ST inspires confidence in me. I have been riding for
several years and have had a few different bikes. The ST though, takes the
cake! I have installed the three-pannier system, heated grips, touring
screen, front for protectors, front mudguard extension and now the
Scottoiler. I had been considering a set of Gen Mars or Heli bars but I
have been getting more used to it (appropriate muscles strengthening?) and
now don't think that'll be necessary.
On the ramp/trailer issue: I have a Kendon Stand-up trailer. Love it.
Easy to load the bike and the chief benefit (for me) is when the trailer is
not in use (often), It can stand-up on end and roll into the garage against
the wall for storage. This way it's not taking up much garage space or
sitting outside all the time. New about $1600 for the single rail (they
also have a double-rail trailer for about $1900) but I picked up mine a year
old, as new condition for half that.
Finally, if there are any listers in Connecticut who'd care to do some
riding then drop me a line off list.
Ride Safe!
Pete Kot
