Hard down shifting is stupid and unsettles the suspension as well as wears
stuff out. It also will not tighten your line.  Breaking the rear tire loose
with power *will* point the bike towards the inside of the curve and is an
effective race technique. It also wears out tires, but tires are cheap
compared to motors.
