[ST] Route to Carson city
I just got back from camping at St. Helens...You've probably left already.
Anyway, I left 101 about 30 miles north of Salinas on 156 to 152. This goes
East towards I-5. At I-5 I kept to back roads that went North and very
slightly East until I reached 88. None of it very fun as they were nearly
all long 'n straight farm roads. Grab yourself a map and follow along:
>From I-5/33/152 junction:
* North on 33 to Gustine
* East on 140 to 165
* North on 165 THROUGH Turlock to J14
* North on J14 to Oakdale
* Northwest on 120/J14 until J14 splits off and continues North
through Eugene and Milton
* Northeast on 26 through Valley Springs to 16
* North on 16 to Jackson
* Gas up in Jackson and head Northeast on 88...Have A LOT of fun!
I figured I saved at least an hour going this way. Otherwise, you'll be
going Northwest for awhile before heading in the correct direction. Also, I
was damn proud I stayed off of freeways since 152. Plus there were some
pretty women in the hick towns that were REAL interested in the guy dressed
in black on a blue ST. (the blue ones draw in the chicks!) Alas, I'm
married, so I pulled a wheelie for 'em and rode off into the sunset. Er,
away from it I guess.
Another option, since you're going to Carson, is to head NE once you reach
4. You'll cross it when heading north on J14. Can't say how good that road
is...all I know is I was whoopin' and hollerin' with all the fun I was
having on 88.
Hope you get this in time and that it helps. Have fun!
