[ST] Rev limit

The tach on the ST "redlines" at 10K. I put the RPM's up near there quite
often, but rarely put the needle into the red. I can think of only one
occasion that I *may* have bumped off the limiter. I'm wondering two things:

1. Is it damaging to the engine to bounce off the rev limiter.

2. How do you know your limiter is working? The couple of times that I've
been in the red I haven't felt the limiter kick in. I'd really hate to keep
going to find it, only to find out that it wasn't working and end up with a
smoking engine.
