Re: [ST] RE: (ST) RE: (ST) New Daytona (And superbike review spoilers

I wasn't anywhere near 120, though I was going a little too fast into the corner, perhaps 80 in a corner marked 30 or something like that. It wasn't a Rogaine moment or anything. I followed a couple of bikes into a decreasing radius corner. They both ran a little wide, maybe touching the center line, but since the pavement was perfectly clean and the surface had a lot of traction, I decided to steer through the corner and stay well within my own lane. Yes, I was hanging off a bit, and yes, I probably leaned more than I had to to make the turn, and yes, it probably was unecessary. But if you look at it like that, motorcycles themselves are unecessary. They are also a great deal of fun, and I was having fun. I was approaching the bike's and my own limits, but I was well within them. The bike was planted and had plenty of traction and felt good. A little later in the day I purposely altered the line on a nice left hander so that I touched down my peg feeler, just so the left matched the right. I wouldn't want a casual observer to think I was one of those guys who just went out and terrorized the cloverleafs.

Like Andy Goldfine's t-shirt says, "Speed. Wheelies. Noise. Donuts." We all have to loosen our metaphorical scrotum straps every now and again and have a little fun.

I guess I could see it happening on 120mph long sweeper or something,
but like I said, a quick turn-in makes hanging off or touching down
unnecessary for me.
