If you are talking about symetrically straightening out the corner
yes.  But IIRC people where talking about about going in braking,
then a sharper turn and accelerating out through the apex. Different
line, in racing I guess you could say it is more like the Nike
Swoosh than a clear arc that you describe here.

On pavement that is perfect, no oil in the centre strip, no on
comming cars pushing the yellow line near the exit or entrance,
then yes, I do take the same line as you. I don't do the swoosh
line like the 'advance racers' do, but then again I try not to
slide my rear tire on purpose either. 

But yes, I do that corner straigtening as well, it just depends on
the conditions.

But I've seen too many corners where the is debris stacked up in
between the tire tracks. So if you can stay in a tire track your
probably better off.

Again, it all depends on the conditions, you can't say that any particular
method is right all the time.
