RE: [ST] brake lessons

I know exactly how you feel Matt. This weekend my father and I changed out
the left hand front rotor. It wasn't out of spec, but it was bad enough to
be annoying. I bought a full set of brake pads, front and rear, because I
got paranoid. I can now say that with 28,500 miles, I am only about 1/2 the
way thru either set of pads.

2. You can't check the brake pad wear without removing the caliper. After
going through all of the work to remove the calipers, I saw that there was
a lot more pad left than I thought. Looking at the caliper from the rear
while it is mounted is very deceptive.
