RE: [ST] Houston flooding

Well, aside from being scared out of my wits Friday night / early Saturday,
I'm okay, as is the rest of my family. Richard was in Louisiana. I had to
drive through some curb high water to get home, but in a Yukon XL, that wasn't
a problem. It was at midnight when I looked out onto my street and saw water
over the curb that eventually went over the sidewalk that I got really
concerned. In the 11 years we've lived in this house, the water has never
gotten half way up the curb!!! I quickly rearranged the garage to fit my 7
day old Yukon XL in it, along with one motorcycle (other at the shop), riding
lawnmower, a push mower, and a BUNCH of assorted other junk!! At around 4:00
a.m., the water started to receed a bit. I went to bed around 3:00 a.m. and
set my alarm for 45 minutes later to check on it . . . .

I'm thankful I was just scared. Other people lost their lives, their pets,
the contents of their house, suffered damage to their house, and lost one or
all of their vehicles. I've never seen water like that, and I hope I never do
again. For those of you who didn't see the pictures, we had 18 wheeler
FLOATING on interstate highways!!!! That's what happens when you get 1/2-3/4
of your annual rainfall in the space of 4 days!!!

Our Triumph dealer lost a 4 day old car in the mess. His wife was following
him home. He was about 5 minutes ahead of her. There was a wreck between
them, and she was stuck in traffic as the water started going up. There was
nothing she could do but leave the vehicle and get to safety. I think the
water went down enough so they could get it out yesterday, for what it was
worth.

Hope everyone else on the list down here came out well . . . .
