Robert, all,
IMHO *THE* most useful brake servicing tool is a pair of right-angle-nosed
external circlip pliers (mine are drop-forged, and the points taper smoothly
from about 5mm down to 1mm). The are used to:
- - Non-destructively and evenly spread the pads (and hence force the pistons
back).
- - remove pistons from the calliper - take it firm and slow (where have I
heard that before?) and they simply glide out.
BTW my dentist was only to happy to let me have a discarded but good
cake-hole mirror - but was a bit non-plussed at the reason I gave him for
wanting it!
