RE: [ST] accessory plug

Denis,

Your friendly local BMW dealer will sell you the BMW male plugs for about $7
each, if I recall correctly. They are much smaller and less fragile than
the usual large cigarette size lighter plugs. You can also fill them with
silicone prior to assembly which makes them waterproof - this doesn't work
very well with the bigger plugs. Trust me on this - and you don't need to
ask why I always have a small flashlight in my toolkit, and why I like every
circuit to have either a beaker or fuse.

For your eMap, you'll have to either change the female on the bike, or make
an extension cord from a BMW male to female "Cigarette" since you need the
voltage converter that is built into the eMap's power cord to get to 3.5v
(or whatever it is).

Just curious - do you have the so-called "hardened" converter or the
standard Garmin thing? I have the basic one, so I'm expecting the worst if
a hardened unit is required. Perhaps it is just another case of judicious
use of silicone gasket material to fill the plug. Anyone know?
