Belts are used as the primary drive on Top Fuel Harleys & to drive the supercharger on Top Fuel cars.
I think these belts are about 4 inches wide. They do break regularly but transmit a lot more power than any road bike.
The Harleys put out about 800 hp.
The supercharger on a top fuel car consumes about 1000 hp & the belts are sometimes replaced every 3 passes.
(Completely irrelevant to a roadbike, but does answer your question about how much power they can transmit...)
