I have used earplugs and they are awesome, still can hear everything but
they cut out all the garble. The wind can "beat you up" and this does
help. I have the new Arai Signet GT , great comfort but still have the
slight wind noise, I think all helmets have it actually. I also have an
older Bell and its even worse. The lower speeds aren't the problem , but
when you run close to tripple digits, it is a great help.
