[ST] Re: New Headlight Bulbs (and horn!)

... Say
Eric, does your eye mount on some kind or flexible cabling with
an arm that
allows you to extend it at will, what planet did you say you
were from;-)
You guys definitely have infinitely more patience than me.

========================================================================

Here, here, I must concur. Two weeks ago, I attempted to install said bulbs
with the instructions from the list. Good instructions, but either my
hands/fingers are too short/fat, or my eyes are too old or I have little/no
patience or all of the above ;^) After 30 minutes of knuckle scraping I
finally gave in and removed the (right) side faring. 11 socket screws, and
had better access. Still took me another 20 minutes as I could not decipher
the unlock mechanism. Once I figured it out I moved to the left side and
did the whole operation in under 5 minutes, including removing the side
panel! Just goes to show what a learning curve will do for you. I then
installed the Fiam horn (Freeway Blaster) simple with the faring bits out of
the way. I must say that these two very inexpensive mods ($13.00/horn,
$24.00/bulbs) are an outstanding improvement!!!! Now I can be SEEN & HEARD.
Major safety improvement. I highly recommend these to all. Thanks to the
ST-LIST for all the excellent advice. You guys are the greatest.

On another note I have also have installed the helmet mounting bracket for
my Chatterbox FRS on the side of my tankbag. Bought the extension cord to
the headset, MAJOR improvement. I never liked the damned thing hanging off
my helmet. And the controls are much easier to use as well.
(yeah, I know 'bout all the debate over this unit vs. Autocom and such, but
it seems to work OK for me, and it was a gift!)

Let's see since this winter downtime I have bought new boots & gloves
(Triumph Explorer) Perf leather pants to match my Retro perf jacket, Gen-Mar
risers, Passport 8500 radar detector (on order) cable lock (barbed wire),
the above mentioned lights, horn and FRS mods and probably a bunch of other
stuff I don't even remember now. If this rain and cold here in Dallas
doesn't end soon I'm going to be bankrupt!

Come on Summer! (we don't get "spring" down here).
