[ST] #$%^%&#$ Vandals!

Howdy,

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. We keep our
bikes in the drive out front of our duplex, locked and covered. For
two years no one has messed with them. However, when I got home
from riding last Friday night, I pulled in the driveway to the
sight of Beth's Legend over on it's left side. The kicker is, the
kickstand was still in the down position and the bike was still
covered. It is located such that there is no way the wind could
have done this. Also, her SV650 S was sitting right next to it and
it was not knocked over. So apparently, someone intentionally
knocked it over and with great effort to boot. Imagine pushing so
hard as to lift the bike up and over the kickstand!? Go figure. I
don't know anyone in this town so I doubt if I have any enemies,
known or otherwise.
There is an upside to this however. I had decided NOT to
cancel our comprehensive coverage on the bike when Beth stopped
riding it. I still took it out for the occasional spin for grins.
The damages totalled just under $2000!!! Holy Sh_t! I would have
expected that from my VFR, but not the unfaired Legend. Anyway, the
tank is getting replaced, the summer windscreen and brackets, the
left green cover that says "Legend" on it and some other goodies.
The extra premium I paid for the past four months paid for itself
about 6-1/2 times over! Also, there was still some damage from
Beth's getoff at the Eastern rallye last year. Those parts were
damaged enough in the recent tipover that the insurance has agreed
to replace them. I have no deductible for this kind of damage and
they assure me it won't affect my rates. Since we are trying to
sell the bike anyway, this is one of those weird hidden blessing
kind of things hehe. Now it will look like new at no cost to me. It
was also due for it's 12K oil change. They even agreed to pay for
that since it would have to be done anyway during some of the clean
up and repair of the engine and tank. Woohoo!
I just hope the perps don't return to mess with the VFR or
the SV650S! By the way, anyone interested in a 99 Legend?

Adios,
