[ST] Controversy over Countersteering

Some folks have wondered why there is a controversy over countersteering, and why some folks think you can steer a bike with various forms of body english.

The answer to both questions lies in your childhood. Specifically, BICYCLES. Bicycles tend to have much quicker steering that motorcycles, and because the rider generally weighs as much up to 10 times as much as the steed, the impact of body english is very, very real. (Just watch the stunt riders on BMX bikes!) Thus, the PERCEPTION is that there isn't any countersteering going on. You just ride, you don't think about it. And, that memory forms the basis of our intuition regarding motorcycle steering dynamics. If you want to go in a certain direction, you, at very slow speeds, steer the wheel that way. That's the first memory of steering a two-wheeler, which probably had training wheels on it anyhow!

Remember, its a conflict physics and logic vs. childhood memories.

Well, enough useless info for now.
