For those of you that are contemplating removing the centrestand for track
days, here's a tip that can help with the spring removal.  With the bike on
the centrestand insert coins (or some similar spacers) between the coils of
the spring.  Then when you drop the bike off the stand the spring will
remain expanded, which should make its removal easy.  If you leave the
spacers in place while the centrestand is off, it will also make
re-installation easier.  This technique also works for sidestands.
