My dealer told me this is common, not only on the ST, but all new Triumphs.
Common components and all.  I was told that this would go away at 1000 miles.
  It hasn't.  I commute daily about 50 miles, and am at 1,300 now.   For me,
the noise only occurs when the air temp is below 70 deg F.  Dunno why.
Someone else has suggested rotating the module.  I haven't tried it yet, but
my dealer said he would replace it under warranty, but the new one would do
it too, but stop before 1,000 miles.   Who knows.  Good luck.
