Been there (almost).  Done that.

I had to dodge 2 tools and a plastic bucket while in heavy traffic. 
Slower than freeway speeds though.  As you may remember I got past the
moving tools and would have got past the bucket except for that last
second gust of wind that pushed it directly under the front tire.  :-(

I can sympathize with you.
