[ST] Product reports

Well, just thought I would give some personal opinion on a couple new things
for the bike/me. If you don't much care, please feel free to hit <delete>
now.

Anyway, had the new 18T front sprocket from Lilley's installed last week.
Didn't get much riding time on it until yesterday and today. Bike is
definitely much "peppier". Pulls through the below-3200 rpm flat spot and
vibration much smoother now. Don't hardly feel that at all anymore. Also
pulls through the rpm range much quicker - especially from 5000 rpm and up.
Bike seems to WANT to be up there. Running to redline is a lot funner
now!!! And the biggest thing I notcied is rolling on the throttle coming
out of a corner and still slightly leaned over I can pull the front end up
slightly. Keep rolling into it as you straighten the bike out and the front
tire is running just off the ground. Pretty cool feeling. Reminds me of
the feeling I get watching some of the AMA and WERA races on TV and watching
those guys power out of the corners.

Second, finally picked up the new Shoei X-SP II. This helmet will be
replacing my current Shoei RF-700. All I can say is WOW!!!!. Had a little
bit of a struggle getting the chin curtain and breath gaurd in, but other
than that, no problems. Put a couple coats of Zaino on it and went out
riding. This thing rocks. It feels just like it is an extension of my
head. Granted, the padding in the RF-700 is well worn and loose, but this
thing fits like a glove. Vents quite well, although it is very cool here
today. Venting is quite nice and no problems with fogging except when
sitting at a stop light, but that was easily solved with a quick pop of the
shield - just like and no worse than my RF-700. Love the graphics and
padding feels really nice. The check pads are a little tight, but I have
been told by a couple people to wear it and let it break-in instead of
trying to replace the pads with different ones. The tinted shield that came
with it is the light tint and not quite what I wanted, but the dark tint one
I use on my RF-700 fits just right and looks good, although I am thinking
about a blue irridium shield for it. And the padded, zip-up bag is nice and
holds the extra shield inside with the helmet. Nice little setup.

Well, sorry to ramble on, but just been a good day. When I went to pick the
helmet up today I noticed that the shop is now carrying Joe Rocket jackets.
Well, they had a Meteor 3.0 there. It is was the blue/black jacket, but it
was a Large. Tried it on and really liked it, but I need a XL. So they are
ordering it. So much for the Spidi Mask. Really liked the Joe Rocket one.
And one thing I really like is the added flap between the outside zipper and
the seperate zipper for liner. And the blue looks MUCH better in person
than it does in any catalog or in the article in the July '01 Motorcyclist.
Will work well with the bike and the new helmet.

Well, hope everyone is having a good, fun, safe weekend.
