Check the sidestand switch, then the clutch lever switch, fiddle with the
gearshift lever. It sounds like the interlock from one of those.

So very sorry, BTW, to have missed you while you were in the area! I should
have realized this was the time for your trip back east. If you're still
around Beantown, get yourself over to the Lars Anderson Museum of
Transportation in Brookline for the annual European Bike Show. Tomorrow,
10/7 only.

Great event, and a certain Massachusetts-born motorcyle enthusiast with a
prominent jaw who host a late-night TV show is often seen to attend, signing
autographs, etc.
