Re: [ST] First gear "surging" on RS

Well, there were several others on the list that had similar symptoms to mine. 
Those being:  pronounced surging while holding steady at or near 5000rpms in
the lower gears (eventually annoying in all gears all speeds but especially at
higher rpms.) . High fuel consumption.  The surging was not evident while
accelerating.

Successful attempts to fix the problem have included one or more of the
following:  regressing back to an earlier tune, replace throttle position
sensor, replace or seal a leaking idle air stepper motor housing,  adjust CO
level, replace crank position sensor, balance throttle bodies, replace drive
chain.  I think that's it.  There is at least one bike I know of with the
surging problem that responded well to a performance exhaust/air filter with
the race tune.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) those plus many
other attempts (including new computer, new injectors, valve job) failed to fix
my '00 Sprint ST (at about 10,000 miles) and they gave me a new bike.  
Incidently, the only thing that had even the slightest effect on the way my
original bike ran was downloading the race tune.  That made it a little better
but did not solve the problem.

Find a nice new smooth road and slowly accelerate through the rev range holding
steady at about 5000 or 6000 rpms.  If you are having a similar problem to the
one I had it will be most apparent in this situation.
