RE: [ST] OT: conceptual art?

LOL! Again, I say LOL!

Lasers DO project light much further than, say, an ordinary flashlight. BUT,
the beam does expand and strike particulates in the atmosphere. The range on
consumer grade laser pointers can't be much more than a mile, if that far.

Thanks for the laugh.

Conceptual art or just plain Tom Foolery?

from Ananova.com:

Artist asks millions of laser-owners to help turn moon red.

A Missouri artist wants millions of people to aim lasers at the moon to
make it change colour. James Downey, from St Louis, says he wants to
produce a red spot on the dark part of the moon. He's asking for people to
simultaneously point laser pointers at it on Saturday.

His website http://www.paintthemoon.org/ gives further details about the
idea. "I came to realise that it's a conceptual art piece," he says. "The
biggest thing to remember is that it's not a scientific experiment, it's
an art experiment."
