Leaking Radiator

Hi Listers,
been lurking for a long while - I was witness to a fatal accident (biker) 
in the Odenwald and it did damage my enthusiasm for riding.  My ST is also 
out of action, since the radiator inconveniently sprung a leak just 2 yrs 3 
months from new.  I understand that this is 3 months out of warranty?
There is no indication of a stone hit, and the hole is on the back of the 
radiator!)  Has anyone managed to get theirs replaced under warranty?
Was there a problem with early ST radiators developing leaks due to 
incorrect fitting or stress caused by misaligned mounting points?
