RE: [ST] Grammar peeve and London plea

I wrote the first part the second was taken from a flag etiquette website
I found. To tell the truth though, the whole time I was in the Marines
we always said half mast on land or at sea. I stand corrected.

OK, the grammar pet peeve-- if the flag is flying on land, it's at
half-staff. If it's at sea, it's half-mast.

And now the plea-- as it stands right now, I'm scheduled to fly from
San Francisco to London this Thursday evening, and return to San
Francisco the following Tuesday. I have no clue if I'll be able to
make the trip or not, but if the planes are flying, I will almost
certainly go. I'm traveling with one friend, though we're on different
flights.

I'd like to have an emergency contact in London proper, as well as
somewhere outside the city that we could go to in an emergency. I
would like to give the emergency contact a list of email addresses, so
that if something bad happens, I can call you and say, "I'm OK" and
have you get that message to people back in the US, since they might
have no way to reach me.

It's pretty much beyond my wildest dreams that I would ever need this,
but it's also beyond my wildest dreams that I would ever wake up to
what happened yesterday.

If you'd be willing to help, please drop me a note off-list
(pattib@xxxxxxxxxx). Thank you!
