I've had occasion to use my Stop & Go plug kit, and while it was a
royal pain in the butt, it worked fairly well. It's not going to give
you enough of a tire to finish the trip on, but you should be able to
ride carefully to someplace where you can get the tire replaced.

If you look at www.stopngo.com, I have the #1075 standard plug kit.
I also have the Mini Tire Inflator that's sold at JC Whitney
(www.jcwhitney.com) and uses CO2 cartridges. For me, four cartridges
was enough to get the bike minimally ridable, but only gave me 20PSI.
You'll probably want to carry half a dozen, but I managed to tuck both
the inflater and the cartridges into the Stop & Go bag.
