Well, my bit on mileage:
I'm a daily commuter.  As long as there isn't ice on the roads I ride, 
sometimes if there is ice on the roads I take my XR400 with lights and the 
studded tires, but that bike gets tiresome on the road after 15 miles.  My 
mileage varies constantly because I work in construction so I move around.  
Right now I'm only 25 miles from home but last year I was 85 miles from home 
for about four months and before that I was commuting 120 miles to work and 
then 120 home again, for seven months.

Everyother weekend I mbar do 200 miles or so.  That is dependent on house 
projects.
