Ok, all you smarty pants, what metals are actually in stainless
steel?
Nickel! Primarially stainless steel is nickel and steel and with varying
lesser amounts of chromium, molybdenum and what not. The stainless steels
with high proprotion of nickel and other non-ferrous metals (the most
corrosion resistant) are less magnetic. A good quality 316 stainless (like
for marine use) will appear non-magnetic (at least to the common workshop
magnetic). A stainless alloy such as 430 which is primarially chromium and
iron and is primarially used in interior architectural applications is
pretty magnetic.
Further, most stainless is avalaible in High or low carbon varieties,
usually designated with an 'L' for low carbon. i.e. 304L is low carbon 304
stainless steel.
BTW, British Racing Green is actually the fastest color, regardless of what
anyone tells you. It is unquestionably the most refined color.
