It really is both. Every pound you pull up on the rail equates to an
additional pound of "weight" on the stand, sort of a two for one deal.
But, you're right. Where I think I'm small at my weight and height, there
are others who are smaller still. Best guess is I'm pulling up about 30# on
the rear to get things moving. A smaller person would have to lift half
again our weight difference to get the same effect. If you weigh 100#, you
would have to lift 65#. A 75# person would have to lift equal to his own
body weight. At that point, it's no longer the simple task it is for us big
hulking dudes.
