You may be right. I was just presuming this was the case because I had a
vandal cut the earth lead to my alternator once and the bike consequently
ran the battery flat and then stopped. When I got it started again the
warning light was on. I wonder what else could have caused it? I guess it
could have detected that the battery wasn't charging but the light didn't
come on until after it went totally flat.
