RE: [ST] Don't leave home without one

Paul,

You either got a great deal on the color, or questionable quality. I had a
low-speed g-storm a couple of years ago and had my brother paint the nose,
side and one hard bag. The color alone was $100, and that was barely enough
to finish the job. As it was, he had to guess at how many coats of the base
to put on for a good match.

The Saphire Blue is a two-tone color, which means it requires a base coat
and a top coat, then the clear coat. It's pretty spendy stuff. If a painter
does the matching right, he'll waste quite a bit of it as well. Since the
base and top coat both add color, blending isn't such an easy task anymore.

If the decal is important to you to have, you'll add $40. By the time you
add in the cost of the color and labor, you might as well buy a new piece.

Rich, no witnesses or anything, huh? How friggin' neighborly of everybody!

My .04 worth.

Rich,

No need to replace your fairing . I am talking from experience as I also
found my beloved ST laying on its side in the parking lot. Same story
same result. A friend that owns a body shop is repairing mine. The ST
sticker on the side of the fairing will cost you 39 to 40 bucks, and the
scratch repair and repaint should run about $100. Mine came to $240 but
I also had some other work done, had my panniers repainted while he had
the paint gun out.

Good luck
