That's an understatement.  Not only are they not used to it (or even
used to motorcycles at all, I would venture), but if they see it, they
will be pissed and if they see it coming ahead of time, they will try to
do something about it to "teach you a lesson".

Bruce, you're a braver (or more foolish :b) man than I.  I've often
thought of splitting lanes here in DFW--mostly when stuck in rush hour
or if there's a wreck or something up ahead, but can never bring myself
to do it because the idea scares me too much.  Not that I don't think
I could navigate between cars, but because I'd be afraid of everyone
around me.

At least bikes get to ride in the (few) HOV lanes here.
