Funny, 

Mine works in the opposite fashion.  Forward = normal heat, backward =
frizzle-fry for mine.  I guess mine is installed backward.  Fortunately, it
is very detectable.

Forward is high
Centre is off
Rearward is normal

Assuming of course they fittied the switch the right way around (icon
forward) :o)
