[ST] Track Day for Triumph riders, NHIS

The date for the Triumph Track Day I am putting on at New Hampshire
International Speedway in Loudon NH (USA)is September 23, 2003. This not
(as yet) connected with the Triumph factory or Triumph of America in any
way. It is one organized by me, for the benefit of my fellow Triumph riders.

The cost will be finalized in a month or two (the track has not firmly set
their costs yet.) For now, we'll assume the same costs as several track days
I attended last year, $175. That price will rise to $200 if there are still
openings a few weeks ahead of time, and $250 cash for "day of show".

The format will be refined as the date draws near, but fundamentally, it's
like this:

Arrive and sign in from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Pre-ride video and rules review from 8:00 to 8:30
Assignment to one of 2 or 3 groups depends upon the spread of experience.
Being a Triumph day, we will likely have 3 to start, as I am encouraging
riders of ALL Triumphs at ALL levels to attend.
Follow-the-leader sessions 8:45 to 9:00 if 2, to 9:20 if 3 groups.

Alternating sessions thereafter, probably 30 minute intervals. If I get
enough volunteer cornerworkers, we can run right through lunch (which is
provided, along with plenty to drink.)

Instructors are all highly skilled, experienced riders. Some past, most are
current racers. Several will be on Triumphs! All have a demonstrated ability
of being able to analyze what they see and offer constructive criticism to
get you riding smoother, more confident, and thereby faster. You will be
encouraged to approach them with questions and they will do an "I
follow-you, you follow me" type of session with you.

We will have two ambulances so that in the most undesirable event of a crash
that needs the ambulance to leave, there's a backup and we can keep running.

Passing rules will vary for the two groups. Both groups, no passing on the
inside, anywhere. Slower group, passing on the outside on the 4 "straight"
sections only (though one is really a HS turn.) Fastest group will have only
3 places where even passing in a race is considered foolish.

THIS IS NOT A RACE! No points, no trophies, nothing but skill development. I
will put up a website somewhere in a month or two which will offer all the
details, and ask all you Triumph riders in the Northeast to help get the
word out. I will provide links to many places of lodging in the area, and
post articles about who, what , why, etc. Track days are the BEST way to get
very comfortable with your bike, IF the event is run well. I will do that,
and make intense efforts to assure you the MAXIMUM amount of time on the
track.

The last couple of times two local dealers tried to do this, they didn't
promote it right, and their "Triumph" track days were either cancelled or
filled with 80% "other makes". I REFUSE to allow this one to fail! I am not
married to any one dealer, any one group. It is for ALL Triumph riders to
enjoy each other?s company, learn about our bikes, and understand better how
to ride them the way they were meant to be ridden. THAT, I can guarantee.

For now, you can e-mail me directly with any questions or comments.
