Re: [ST] engine management light on

I went ahead and rode the bike 200 mi. on Sunday. The check engine light was
off the entire time the engine was running, but came on as soon as I turned
the bike off, with or without the key in the ignition. When I got home, I
disconnected the ground from the battery, thinking to avoid a flat battery.
Reconnected the battery ground the next morning, just to see status of
light: it did not come back on. I called the dealer who told me I must have
reset a computer chip and they could not read an error code, so nothing to
do but see if it happens again. My guess is that it is some weird short
somewhere (that could be a nightmare). BTW, maybe this is a clue, maybe not:
Before the light came on, the bike was a little low on fuel and had been
parked on the side stand all night: noticed light next a.m (keys were left
in the ignition, but, obvisosly, off).

Any insights?
Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
